A yellow weather warning for 'strong' winds has been issued for Greater Glasgow this weekend.

The Met Office has implemented the warning for the Glasgow and wider Strathclyde area from 7am until 9pm on Saturday, December 21.

Some transport delays and disruptions can be expected, as well as temporary loss of power in some areas.

Throughout the day, Glaswegians can expect temperatures to hit highs of eight degrees and lows of one degree.

In the morning, the sun will rise at 8.46am, however, it will sadly set at 3.44pm.

Due to the predicted windy weather, ScotRail has said train services will potentially be disrupted.

The rail firm is urging passengers travelling on Saturday to check beforehand and take care.

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: "A Met Office weather warning for very strong winds of up to 80mph will be in place on Saturday, December 21 from 7am until 9pm.

"This has the potential to disrupt train services so check before you travel on the ScotRail app or website.

"Take care if you're going to be out on Saturday."

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A very windy weekend with showers or longer spells of rain, occasionally wintry Saturday night.

"Lighter winds on Monday, dry at first, rain later."

They added: "Strong westerly winds are expected to develop through the course of Saturday, with gusts of 50-60 mph developing quite widely across this region.

"This has the potential to cause delays to public transport and some disruption to the road network, which may have a greater than usual impact given the busier pre-Christmas weekend travel.

"Dangerous coastal conditions can be expected too, with large waves an additional hazard."
