Pensioner dies in hospital after being struck by car in Johnstone

A pensioner has died in hospital after being struck by a car in Johnstone.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash, involving a pedestrian and a red Toyota Corolla, on Beith Road at around 8.30am on Sunday, December 29.

An 85-year-old man, the pedestrian, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on December 31. 

He has now been named as John Allan.

The driver of the car is reported to have been unharmed.

Sergeant Paul Mellis of the Road Policing Unit said: "Our thoughts remain with John's family and friends at this very difficult time.

"Enquiries into the crash are continuing. I would appeal to anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact us through 101, quoting incident number 0814 of December 29, 2024."
