Chargemaster, trading as BP Pulse, has lodged an application for planning permission for the project earmarked for a site to the north of St James Avenue.
If given the green light, the proposal could lead to the creation of between 35 and 40 jobs at the restaurant as well as “significant new investment” in the area.
A planning statement, prepared by Gravis Planning, explained: “The proposed class three restaurant with drive-through would provide an important amenity for users of the electric vehicle [charging] hub, allowing users to gain refreshments and other amenity facilities while vehicles are charging.

“The restaurant would have 36 car parking spaces, including two accessible parking bays. Five bicycle stands are also proposed which support 10 bicycles.
“In addition to serving users of the electric vehicle charging hub, the café/restaurant would also serve nearby residents and staff employed in nearby businesses as well as other pass-by trade.”
The electric vehicle charging hub, which would be operated by BP Pulse, would comprise 16 parking bays – 12 of which would have charging facilities.
The statement added: “The proposal will provide a high-quality mixed use commercial development in a convenient, accessible location to serve the local community in the north and northwest of Paisley in addition to those travelling along the M8 and those visiting Glasgow Airport both located to the north of the site.

“The proposal will provide 35 to 40 new jobs (head count), equivalent to 25 full-time equivalent jobs, within the class three unit and significant new investment plus significant employment during the construction period.
“The electric vehicle charging hub provides an ultra-fast charging service, taking circa 20 minutes to charge, providing a convenient offering to customers.
“Landscape buffers and acoustic fencing are proposed to minimise residential amenity impacts on nearby residents, including those at St James Avenue.”
Gravis Planning believes it has been demonstrated the project is in line with the provisions of the development plan.
A decision will be made on the application at a later date.
