A band from Paisley have reignited a tradition in Germany.

The Brian Laurie Accordion Showband travelled to perform with the Neiderkassel Orchestra for two concerts last month.

It was the first time the Renfrewshire group had travelled to the country since the end coronavirus pandemic, with the event previously taking place every two years since 1989.

Brian Laurie, who runs the academy, travelled with 28 pupils to the celebration of music, with both groups performing in front of over 800 people across the two shows.

He opened up on the tradition of the event.

Brian said: "The friendship started in 1989, it was a relationship my mother began with the Accordion Club Neiderkassel.

"They are like family to us as we known them for so long and it was great to see everyone again.

"To be back in Germany was amazing and to Pia Clemens (NeiderKassel Orchestra conductor) was great.

"We have invited her group over in 2027 to keep the tradition alive."
