A model railway event is coming to the Braehead Arena this weekend.

The inaugural Scottish Festival of Railway Modelling takes place at the venue on June 14 and 15, between 10am and 5pm.

It is being put on by the Renfrewshire Model Railway Club, which is based in Elderslie.

Entry is priced at £12 for adults and children under 16 go free.

The event brings together layouts, traders and demonstrators from all over the U.K. to celebrate model railways.

The group will also be announcing the award of a National Lottery Grant to the club, allowing us to run a How to Build a Model Railway course to encourage members of the general public to get involved in the hobby.

Scott McLachlan, fundraising manager at the club, opened up on the significance of the event.

He said: "This event is to celebrate railway modelling as a whole.

"We are bringing 42 layouts from across the UK, 20 traders and a number of demonstrators to the event.

"The group have made a conscious effort to have things on offer that are not usually available to try and help boost the popularity of the hobby.

"We are also trying to make the show as family-friendly as possible."
