Holidaymakers due to leave from Glasgow Airport have been given a reprieve after next week’s strike action was suspended.

Unite the Union had announced that their members had rejected a 4% pay offer and strike action was due to take place from Thursday, July 24 until Saturday, July 26.

Around 100 staff members were due to walk out which includes airport ambassadors, airside support officers, engineers and managers employed by Glasgow Airport LTD, which made £40.65m in its latest recorded accounts.

Unite are yet to make a statement to confirm the news but it is understood the decision has been made to allow further discussions on the pay offer.

It is a boost for travellers who were due to leave from Glasgow Airport next week and faced long delays or potential cancellations if the strike action went ahead.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Airport said: "We have been informed by Unite that the planned industrial action for 24 to 26 July has been suspended to allow for further dialogue regarding our pay offer of 4%."

Unite the Union has also been contacted for comment.
