UPDATE: Network Rail has confirmed that its engineers identified an issue at Ferguslie and the line between Paisley and Lochwinnoch has now reopened, with services returning to normal.

Train passengers have been warned of major disruption this morning after a loss of power to overhead wires has impacted services in Renfrewshire.

Network Rail issued an alert that engineers were responding to a loss of power to the overhead wires between Paisley Gilmour Street and Lochwinnoch, which affects services between Glasgow Central and Ayrshire.

They posted about the issue on X just before 10am and confirmed they will share another update soon as wind speeds from Storm Floris continue to increase in the area.

Network Rail announced on Sunday that services will be suspended from midday today amid an amber warning being put in place.

Wind gusts are expected to range between 50 and 70 mph, with even stronger winds reaching up to 80 or 90 mph in exposed coastal and highland areas.
