A record number of runners have signed up for this year's Paisley 10k.

At least 4700 people will compete in the road race and fun run, with more participants still expected to join.

Organised by OneRen and supported by Renfrewshire Council and Kilbarchan Amateur Athletics Club, the 10k and fun run is a major event in Paisley's sporting calendar.

Set to take place on Sunday, August 17, the event has been hailed by some runners as the “most fun” event of its kind in Scotland.

The number of entries for 2025 has already surpassed last year’s record of 4555.

Fiona Watson, OneRen’s sport and health services manager, said: “We’re delighted to be smashing last year’s record.

“The success of the 10k and fun run really is phenomenal as it goes from strength to strength.

“The welcome that runners get is a big part of that.

“The people of Paisley turn out in force to welcome runners and cheer them on and that’s just what they need.

“Word is also getting out that it’s a great family day out too, with a terrific atmosphere along the route.

“Runners tell us that the Paisley 10k is the most fun fun run and road race. We like to think it is – and it’s great to see that thousands of people agree with us.”

The flat, fast route of the road race, verified by Scottish Athletics, is a major attraction for competitors, including elite runners.

It takes participants out to the west of the town, following a loop of Paisley’s historic town centre.

More than 3k of the route is along the Paisley Canal to Kilmacolm cycle track, with the start and finish lines in County Square, outside Paisley Gilmour Street train station.

The fun run is along a different route, taking in many Paisley landmarks, and is open to anyone who wants to walk, jog, run or even push a buggy.

Fiona added: “The Paisley 10k and fun run is a fantastic event that brings the community together.

“It’s great to see so many people getting involved and supporting one another.”

Registrations for the Paisley 10k road race and fun run close at midday on Friday, August 15.

Entries can be made via the OneRen website.
