Employers across Renfrewshire are being encouraged to take advantage of available recruitment support.

The Department for Work and Pensions is encouraging employers to utilise the support available through local jobcentres.

Ewan Speedie, from Paisley Jobcentre, said: "We want to work with you to fill your vacancies.

"Our jobcentres are open for recruitment events tailored to individual employers, and we regularly host jobsfairs that bring multiple businesses together under one roof.

"We can also organise work academies and boot camps to help prepare candidates for your roles."

For jobseekers, the DWP is offering pre-employment training and voluntary work experience to help develop essential skills.

Ewan said: "The programmes provide valuable hands-on experience and help develop essential transferable skills.

"They can be a stepping stone to a new career path.

"Attending a jobsfair is a great way for jobseekers to meet employers face-to-face, learn about live vacancies and discover the full range of support available through their local jobcentre."

Alison McGovern, UK Government Minister for Employment, said: "Supporting more people into work and putting more money in the pockets of working people is at the heart of our Plan for Change.

"That’s why we are transforming the way we help people into secure, well-paid jobs.

"Six months after we launched Get Britain Working, we are already seeing the benefits with economic activity at a record high, with 500,000 more people in employment since we entered office and real wages growing more since July than in the decade after 2010."
