An award-winning Scottish company is bringing its “high-octane” show to Renfrewshire this month.
Superfan, known for their creative productions, will perform their Edinburgh Fringe hit Stuntman at Paisley Arts Centre on Wednesday, September 17.
The show, which blends dance, theatre and circus, explores the relationship between masculinity and male violence through “cartoonish” action-movie-inspired fight scenes.
Told through a series of satirical stunts, Stuntman presents a duet where two stuntmen, David Banks and Sadiq Ali, wrestle with their relationship to violence, both on and off screen.

It is inspired by classic and contemporary action films like Die Hard and John Wick, as well as the real-life experiences of the performers.
The production, supported by Creative Scotland, aims to entertain while also providing a commentary on violence in the media and the impact of action-hero role models on men and boys.
Audience members can expect to be immersed in exaggerated fight sequences, all set against a film set-inspired design by Rachel O’Neill, with sound and lighting design handled by Richy Carey and Michaella Fee.

Stuntman will be performed in Paisley as part of a UK tour, which includes a limited run at HMP YOI Polmont, Scotland’s largest young offenders’ institution.
Director and deviser of Stuntman, Pete Lannon, expressed excitement about bringing the show to new audiences across the UK.
He said: “It’s great to be bringing Stuntman back to audiences around the UK, and to be touring to a lot of places we haven’t taken work to before.
“This show is bursting with fun as well as tackling some really complex themes, and every time we perform the show, it feels like those themes have just become more urgent and relevant.”
Superfan, renowned for devising theatre that explores the world in playful ways, was the 2021 company-in-residence at the National Theatre of Scotland.
The company, part of Creative Scotland’s multi-year funding portfolio, won the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust award in 2019 for creating the intergenerational contemporary circus piece Nosedive.
