Young entrepreneurs will take centre stage this festive season at a Christmas trade fair.

Braehead Shopping Centre will once again host the Young Enterprise Christmas Trade Fayre, a long-running event that showcases products designed and created by secondary school students from across Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, East Renfrewshire and East and West Dunbartonshire.

The fayre will take place on December 4 and 11 from 5pm to 8pm.

Ashley Bisland, centre director at Braehead, said: “The Young Enterprise Christmas Trade Fayres are a key highlight in our annual calendar.

“Offering a unique opportunity to buy presents you won’t find anywhere else directly from the young people shaping Scotland’s future, the fayre is a not-to-be-missed evening out.

“Supporting our local communities is at the heart of Braehead, and this is just one way we’re proud to celebrate and champion the people that make it special.”

Running for more than a decade, the fayre forms part of the Young Enterprise Company Programme, which gives students the chance to gain real-world business experience by running their own start-up.

Last year, Johnstone High School produced handmade, reusable wax food wraps.

The team went on to win Renfrewshire Company of the Year and represented the region at the Scottish finals.

Eloise McNeaney, company programme lead at Young Enterprise, said: “Our young people start the Company Programme in August, and the Braehead Christmas Trade Fayres are a much-anticipated opportunity to showcase all their hard work to the public.

“At Young Enterprise, we are so appreciative of the longstanding partnership we have with Braehead and the support they give to everyone involved in making this event a reality.

“We can’t wait to welcome people to this year’s stands to see the innovative and creative products our young people have created.”
