A new direct route is set to make winter escapes to the Mexican Caribbean even more accessible.
Aer Lingus has announced Dublin to Cancún flights, offering seamless connections from Glasgow and eight other UK airports via the Irish capital.
The service will run three times a week using the airline's Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
Holidaymakers can connect through Dublin Airport from Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Heathrow, Manchester, and Southampton.
Flights will operate until April 29, 2026, giving travellers a new long-haul option during the winter months.
Susanne Carberry, chief customer officer at Aer Lingus, said: "Located on the Mexican Caribbean, Cancún is the ideal destination for those looking for an exciting winter escape.
"With its rich history, golden beaches and clear waters and research highlights, Cancún caters to the growing consumer demand for winter sun, while also offering a rich blend of history, culture, and cuisine."
The airline says the route will open up travel to Cancún for passengers across Europe and the UK, offering a smooth transit experience through Dublin.
Cancún is a popular choice for honeymoons and family holidays alike, with a wide selection of resorts and hospitality options to suit all budgets.
The region is known not only for its stunning coastline but also for its ancient heritage.
Nearby archaeological sites include El Rey, Coba, Kohunlich, El Meco, Ichkabal, Chichén Itzá, and Tulum, each offering a glimpse into Mexico’s Mayan history.
Cancún is also a haven for food enthusiasts.
Travellers can enjoy traditional Mexican cuisine, from grilled meats and fresh ceviche to regional delicacies such as lobster pizza, queso de bola, marquesitas, and homemade guacamole.
The new route is expected to boost tourism and strengthen links between Ireland, the UK, and Mexico.
Carlos Trueba Coll, director of Cancún Airport, welcomed the partnership with Aer Lingus.
He said: "On behalf of everyone at Cancún International Airport, we would like to extend a warm welcome to Aer Lingus and thank you for choosing us as part of your destination network.
"We are confident that the addition of the Cancún–Dublin route will boost cultural and economic exchange between our regions.
"Welcome home."
Aer Lingus says the service provides a convenient journey to one of Mexico’s most vibrant destinations.
The airline said that whether visitors are exploring Mayan ruins, trying local cuisine, or enjoying the beaches and nightlife of Cancún, the direct route from Dublin offers a simple starting point.
Cancún continues to attract visitors with its blend of culture, natural beauty, and hospitality.
Aer Lingus believes the new route will appeal to a broad range of travellers.
The service offers an alternative to existing UK departures via hubs such as London Heathrow and Manchester, using Dublin as a central gateway.
Passengers connecting through Dublin can take advantage of US Preclearance and modern terminal facilities.
Travellers are encouraged to check entry requirements and travel advisories before booking.
Aer Lingus also reminded passengers to ensure all documents, including passports and any required visas, are up to date before travel.
The launch is expected to support increased demand for travel to the Americas from the UK and Ireland.
Bookings for the new service are available through the Aer Lingus website and authorised travel agents.
The airline encourages early reservations to secure preferred travel dates.
Flights are subject to availability and standard terms and conditions.
