A Johnstone man is set to stand trial over assault allegations.

David Kennedy is alleged to have assaulted Adam Gallagher on July 1, 2024, in Johnstone’s Dimity Street.

Prosecutors allege Kennedy, of Cartside Avenue, punched Gallagher on the head, struggled with him, attempted to kick him on the body causing him to fall to the ground, pinned him to the ground and repeatedly punched him on the head and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with an unknown object to his “severe injury and permanent disfigurement.”

Defence agent, Terry Gallanagh told Paisley Sheriff Court the defence case is ready for trial and the 43-year-old has a special defence of “self-defence.”

Sheriff Sheena Fraser fixed a trial which is anticipated to last three days at Paisley Sheriff Court for February 25.
