A Greenock man has been banned from the roads after being caught drug-driving.

Edward Gillen admitted he was driving an unregistered car on September 6, last year on Stepends Road in Lochwinnoch.

Gillen, of Lomond Road, was also under the influence of drugs at the time.

The proportion of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol - also known as THC, in Gillen’s blood was not less than 6mg.

The legal limit is 2mg per litre of blood.

Gillen’s defence agent asked for reports to be prepared and reserved mitigation.

Sheriff Clare Arias deferred sentence for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.

The 25-year-old will return to Paisley Sheriff Court for sentencing on March 2 and was banned from driving meantime. The period of his disqualification will be decided on the next occasion.
