Surging rents in Renfrewshire are making "home ownership a more affordable option".

This is according to statistics from Ashberry Homes, which states that average rents have climbed by 7.1 per cent over the past year, outpacing the 5.7 per cent rise in average house prices paid by first-time buyers.

Pauline Coates, sales director for Ashberry Homes, said: "The average rent in Renfrewshire saw a significant jump last year of 7.1 per cent, £882, whereas the rise in average price first-time buyers paid was 5.7 per cent. That’s a significant difference.

"The industry chatter surrounding interest rates being reduced further is encouraging, especially for first-time buyers considering purchasing."

The organisation currently has a development near Braehead Shopping Centre.

The site, Ferry Grove, currently offers two-bedroom, energy-efficient apartments starting from £190,995.

Coates continued: "Our current apartments all have internal upgrades and are currently available with a flooring package.

"Our team also have terrific knowledge to help first-time buyers understand the process and help make it happen."

Prices at Ferry Grove start from £190,995 for a C type two bedroom apartment which includes an open plan living and dining area with a fitted kitchen, including white goods, and two double bedrooms, the master with an ensuite.

Sustainability is also a key focus of the development, with all apartments benefiting from solar panels and shared EV charging points.

Showhomes and the sales office at Ferry Grove are open on Thursdays from 10am to 7pm, Fridays and Mondays from 10am to 5pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 5pm.
