The “King of Hollywood” has helped a Scottish campaigner kick off his coast-to-coast trek across the US.
Craig Ferguson, from Scotland, set off from Los Angeles today for his “Tartan Trek”, a 3000-mile journey to Boston in support of the Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH).
The fundraising challenge, previously covered by The Gazette, will see Craig attempt to complete a marathon a day for 104 consecutive days to raise £1 million.

Scottish broadcaster Ross King, lauded as the “King of Hollywood”, was there to wave him off on his journey.
Sharing his support publicly on Instagram, Ross said: “So honoured to wave off @craigferguson_1 on his amazing charity walk from Los Angeles to Boston ... over 3,000 miles - raising money for @samhscotland.
“Please follow him and donate!”
The social media post drew support from other famous Scots including TV host Lorraine Kelly, who commented: “Wonderful – two fine fellas.”
Craig plans to complete his journey to Boston in time for Scotland’s opening FIFA World Cup 2026 match.

Craig said: “Having Ross there at the start meant a huge amount.
“I am so thankful that he has taken the time to support this challenge – which shows how important the message is.
“This is about more than miles – it’s about raising awareness and making sure mental health support is there for the people who need it through SAMH.”
The funds raised from his efforts will support SAMH’s work delivering accessible, barrier-free mental health services across Scotland, including its national network of walk-in mental health hubs, The Nook.
