UNISON is balloting its members at OneRen over industrial action.

The Renfrewshire branch has written to the chief executive of the organisation Victoria Hollows to lodge a formal dispute.

They claim this is due to "OneRen management’s contempt of the recognised Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Trade Unions and the use of intimidatory practices, where members are being forced into accepting inferior terms and conditions of employment by stealth."

Members are currently being prepared for industrial action ballot, up to and including strike action.

Mark Ferguson, UNISON Renfrewshire Branch Secretary, said: “I contacted the Chief Executive in writing on January 13 and to date I have had no direct response on some of the above matters.

"I believe this to be an abdication of responsibility and UNISON’s escalation to formal dispute is a direct consequence of the chief executive’s failure to adequately engage with us and with the continued adverse impact on our members.

"Since then, UNISON has learned that other inappropriate practices are in place, which may be in breach of Best Value Legislation and local collective bargaining agreements.

"UNISON members will be balloted in line with currently legislation and the union will pursue all avenues available to ensure the protection of our members’ employment and terms and conditions.

"We remain open to dialogue with the OneRen Board, who have been copied into correspondence relating to this matter.”

A spokesperson from OneRen said: “As has always been the case, our doors are open to dialogue with UNISON to discuss any concerns they may have.

"However, for the avoidance of doubt, we have no intention of making any changes to TUPE-protected terms and conditions.”
