Travellers at Glasgow Airport faced disruption as they were "sent back through security" following an emergency drill.

Pictures shared with the Glasgow Times show passengers crowding within the busy airport during the exercise.

Those affected said they took at least 30 minutes to get back to their gates.

One passenger said: "An emergency preparedness exercise has fully disrupted flights.

"Poor folks need to collect their bags and then go through security again."

It's understood that these drills are conducted during quieter periods at the airport and are carried out in a controlled manner.

The airport team say that the drill was part of "routine safety" operations and that passengers are being supported by staff.
