Lufthansa announces flights from Glasgow to Munich for Oktoberfest

An airline has announced new flights from Glasgow Airport later this year so people can experience the "world's largest folk festival".

Lufthansa will operate three flights to Munich in Germany during Oktoberfest .

The flights will depart on September 19 and 26, and October 3.

The 191st Oktoberfest is set to take place in the Bavarian city from Saturday, September 19 until Sunday, October 4.

The annual event, which combines a beer festival with a fun fair and food stalls, draws around seven million visitors to the city each year.

The first Oktoberfest was held on October 12, 1810, to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Pricess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.
