The owner of a Kilmacolm restaurant says he and his staff are thrilled to be in the running for a national award - just months after welcoming their first customers.
Arun Makan launched Marigold in St James Terrace in the run up to Christmas last year, alongside partners Umar Shankar and Rakesh Tiwari.
Since then, the team at the Indian restaurant have been plating up authentic dishes which have a proved popular with diners.
Their efforts have been recognised with a nomination in the New Business of the Year category at the Scottish Curry Awards.
Arun told our sister title The Greenock Telegraph: “I was very happy when they called me because we had only really been running two or three months.
“It’s great that they noticed us. The staff are very excited too.
"It’s important for them to be happy and motivated. The ceremony will be a party for them.”

Marigold will be up against stiff competition from a range of new restaurants across Scotland, including Gourock’s Royal India, VJ’s Aamchi Mumbai in Paisley and Classic India in Barrhead.
The winner of the category, and a host of other prizes, will be announced at an event at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow later this month.
Arun says the nomination has capped off a fantastic start he and his team have made since taking over the site, which was formerly home to Kilmataj.

He added: “It would be great to win an award in our first year. Hopefully it could be the first of many.
