A key stretch of the M8, which has been shut for a month, will remain closed for two weeks, sparking fears of travel disruption in Renfrewshire.

The St James’ Viaduct stretch between Junction 28A and the A737 link — a key route running through the area - has been closed since March 9.

However, it has now been confirmed by Amey, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, that the route will be shut for another 14 days.

The organisation says that deck plates are required to cover the expansion joint.

These are currently being procured and will arrive in around 10 days' time. The lane closure is required as a precaution in the interim.

Traffic delays are expected at peak morning and evening times.
