Renfrewshire‑raised David Tennant took centre stage on the red carpet as he arrived for the world premiere of Disney+ hit Rivals season two, proudly flying the flag for his home patch.
The Renfrewshire actor leads the drama as Tony, Lord Baddingham, a ruthless television boss locked in a power struggle at fictional broadcaster Corinium TV in Jilly Cooper’s 1980s‑set saga.
In the new trailer, Tennant’s character coolly steps out of a helicopter and delivers one of the show’s sharpest lines: “Sorry I’m late, darling. I’ve had a terrible headache,” before declaring “We are at war” to his staff.

Tennant, who grew up in Ralston near Paisley and has often spoken about his strong ties to the area, has long described the Renfrewshire community as his true home despite being born in Bathgate.
Best known for Doctor Who, Broadchurch and Good Omens, he now returns to Rivals after season one ended with Tony Baddingham left in a pool of blood following a brutal attack by Cameron Cooke, played by Nafessa Williams.
Promos for season two tease that Baddingham will be “even more determined to come out on top”, promising fresh intrigue, sharper one‑liners and even more high‑stakes scheming when the series lands on Disney+ in May 2026.
