Police Scotland Renfrewshire are investigating reports of objects being thrown from bridges over the A737 onto passing traffic, the latest in what appears to be an ongoing pattern of dangerous incidents in the area.
Officers say the incidents took place on June 1, 2026, with objects reportedly thrown from footpaths and cycling bridges crossing the A737 at both Johnstone and Linwood.
It follows a series of similar incidents reported earlier this month, in which youths were seen throwing items from bridges over the same stretch of road.
In one case, a vehicle was damaged after objects were thrown from the Barrochan Road bridge, with a driver's partner left shaken after watching an object strike her car.

In a post on Facebook, Police Scotland Renfrewshire said: "We are investigating reports of objects being thrown from the footpaths and cycling bridges crossing the A737 at Johnstone and Linwood onto the carriageway on 01/06/2026.
"If you have any dashcam footage or any information that could assist police enquiries, please contact 101 or Crimestoppers referencing incident PS-20260607-2821."
