Today’s departure was marked with a celebratory send-off at Glasgow Airport, highlighting the continued growth of international connectivity and the strengthening relationship between AGS Airports and Eurowings.

Reinald Frankewitz, head of network relations at Eurowings, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the launch of our new Glasgow–Hanover service and to return to Glasgow Airport.

"The route provides customers with a convenient new travel option between Scotland and northern Germany, connecting two regions with strong cultural and economic ties. We look forward to welcoming travellers on board and to supporting tourism and business travel in both directions."

Meanwhile, Councillor Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “This is great news for tourists and business travellers alike. Germany is an important market for Glasgow, and this new direct service to Hanover makes it easier for visitors to experience our vibrant, cultured and welcoming city, while also providing a convenient gateway to the wider region.

“It also strengthens Glasgow’s connectivity with a key European partner and supports opportunities for trade and inward investment. Congratulations to our partners at Glasgow Airport and to Eurowings for recognising Glasgow’s growing reputation as a global and connected destination.”

Gwen Raez, VisitScotland’s head of market and business development added: “It is great to see the return of Eurowings to Glasgow today, with this new Hanover service creating even more opportunities for German visitors to explore the city and beyond.

“Germany is an important market for Scotland, remaining our largest European source of inbound tourism.  Being able to fly direct again from northwestern Germany will make it easier and more convenient for German visitors to travel to Scotland, allowing them to spend more of their holiday time exploring the country.

“Greater connectivity can encourage longer stays and increased visitor spending, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy everything that our country has to offer, from vibrant cities and stunning scenery to island escapes.

“We look forward to welcoming German visitors this summer and to discover for themselves why Scotland is a must-visit destination.”
