Plans have been approved for a new artificial football pitch to be installed in Johnstone.

The 3G surface will be installed at Thorn Athletic Sports Academy on Greenend Avenue.

The aim of the development is to "enhance community access to modern sporting facilities, provide year-round training and match opportunities, and support the development of football
across all age groups", according to planning documents.

Associated fencing, spectator area, floodlights and a car park will also be constructed as part of the plans.

A consultation on the proposal was open until Jan 26.

Renfrewshire Council approved the plans on June 18.
