One of STV's most beloved presenters is set to return to the news sphere following his retirement from the broadcaster's nightly news show.

John Mackay will take his labour to the BBC as the interim host of Scotcast whilst regular presenter Martin Geissler takes a break.

The show will see John dive behind the headlines for two weeks starting on Monday, August 24, recording live from Pacific Quay, a stone's throw from his old stomping ground.

Mr MacKay said: "I’m really looking forward to working with the Scotcast team.

"The podcast has set the standards in Scotland, and I relish the challenge of maintaining them in my time filling in. I’m already feeling the buzz of returning to the studio."
