A JOHNSTONE school is to get a multi-million pound revamp in a bid to help pupils achieve their full potential.
St Anthony’s Primary, in Hallhill Road, will undergo a £3.6million transformation over the course of the year, with many areas of the school being completely refurbished.
An extension will be built on the north facade of the building to provide a secure entrance and separate the area from the gym.
Each classroom is to get a ‘teaching wall’ which will incorporate interactive whiteboards, while offices and meeting rooms will be reorganised and there will be new staff toilets, storage and an IT server hub.
In addition, classrooms will get canopies with roller shutters which will lead out to new paving areas to promote outdoor learning.
Work will be carried out on ceilings and floors throughout the school and acoustic insulation will be introduced, as well as an upgraded central heating system.
Meanwhile, the exterior of the building will be upgraded with a new flat roof finish and brickwork repairs.
The revamp is due to get under way this spring and take 64 weeks to complete.
Councillor Jim Paterson, Renfrewshire’s education and children’s services convener, said: “The works will ensure pupils have access to the best possible learning environments.
“We’re committed to investing in our school buildings where necessary as every penny spent is also an investment in our children.”
