MOURNERS are being urged to wear green tomorrow (Wednesday) as the funeral of Lisbon Lion hero Stevie Chalmers takes place.

The former footballer died just days after his former teammate and captain, Billy McNeill.

Chalmers was 83.

He scored Celtic’s 1967 European Cup winner.

His funeral plans have been passed onto Celtic Football Club who then shared them with fans.

The funeral mass will take place at 11.30am on Wednesday, May 8, at St. Mary’s Church in Calton.

Following the church service, the cortege will pass through the Celtic Way at approximately 12.45pm/1pm and onwards to a private family cremation.

The Chalmers family have asked those attending the funeral to wear something green in celebration of Chalmers’ connection to the club.
