THERE was tonnes of fun on offer for youngsters at a Howwood playgroup.

The community-run group has been in the area for 40 years and continues to attract little ones from around the area and further afield.

One of the group leaders, Karen Hailey, runs the classes with two other mums every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning in the hall at Howwood Parish Church.

Youngsters who are preparing for school can get involved in early learning in a fun environment.

There are also plenty of other activities to keep little ones entertained throughout the day.

Among the fun is a bouncy castle, building shapes with blocks, bikes, a playhouse, slide and see-saw.

Another popular pastime among the kids is the storytelling corner, where a plethora of books are on offer for little ones to get stuck into.

Song time also allows children to develop confidence and a sense of musical ability in their younger years.

Karen said: “This is one of the longest-running playgroups in the area and is run by parents.

“Its not just kids from Howwood who come along, we attract children from all over Renfrewshire.

“Each day is never the same, with new activities taking place each day.

“And unlike many toddler groups, parents are allowed to go away and leave their little ones in our care.”
