by Robert Oliphant The home side made the early running but it was Renfrew who had a golden opportunity to open the scoring when Colin Forbes was fouled in the box in the seventh minute, however Scott Arthur’s penalty was easily saved by Connolly.
This looked even more of a blow three minutes later when indecision in the Renfrew defence allowed Kasubandi to nip in to open the scoring.
Renfrew didn’t lie down from this though and following a good spell of pressure.
Forbes crossed for ARTHUR to head home the equaliser in the 24th minute.
Renfrew started the second half the brighter but again without creating a chance.
That was the pattern of the half as Vale came more into it again and both sides showed plenty of industry. Fans had to wait until the dying moments for either goal to be seriously threatened, Dale Burgess doing well to keep out McLaughlin and Hepburn.
A point each a fair result in a game where both sides showed decent ability going forward but largely lacked end product.
Renfrew: Burgess, McCormick, Nicolson, Chisholm, Campbell, Mulgrew, Gilmour, McDaid, Arthur, Boyd, Forbes.
