St Mirren's winter exodus continued with Adam Eckersley the latest player to be shown the door at the Simple Digital Arena.

The Englishman has joined Ladbrokes League One side Forfar Athletic on loan until the end of the season to become the 11th departure in the past month, joining Adam Hammill, Ian McShane, Josh Heaton, Jordan Kirkpatrick, Matty Willock, Alfie Jones, Ryan Edwards, Dean Lyness, Conor O'Keefe and Jeff King.

Joining the club two years ago on transfer deadline day in January 2017, 33-year-old Eckersley went on to make 42 appearances for the Buddies with one goal.

Speaking to stmirren.com, Oran Kearney said: "I think it’s been a frustrating time for Adam in relation to the events of the summer and then his operation and rehab to come back from that.

“I have a good relationship with Adam, I’ve always got on well with him and I’m pleased for him to be getting out and getting on with his football. It’s also with a scenario that suits him and he can move on with the rest of his life and do things he would like to do.

“All-in-all it’s an amicable ending for both parties.”

Elsewhere, Saints have been linked with Slovakian international forward Tomas Malec.
