RENFREW boxer Callen McAulay has confirmed his seventh professional fight will take place at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena on March 22.

The 20-year-old took his record to an impressive 6-0 in the same venue back in November with a win over experienced campaigner Eligio Palacios.

Broadcast on BoxNation, the super-lightweight prospect showcased his talents in front of a live TV audience for the first time.

No opponent has been announced as yet for the March 22 bout, but the Strathclyde University student is gearing up for a big 2019.

He said: “I can’t wait to get back in the ring. It was a great experience to fight in the Emirates last time. That was my first fight live on TV too. The build up to that with the press conferences and media attention was something different. It’s really good to get that kind of exposure, though. I had a great crowd with me who made it a great atmosphere to fight in.

“There wasn’t actually any nerves fighting in an arena that big or knowing my fight was on TV. Once you’re in the ring, it’s all the same. The card at the Emirates in March is massive so it should be a sell out again which will be great to fight in.

“We’ve done really well with the tickets for most of my fights and I’m hoping to match that again. I can’t thank those fans enough because if it wasn’t for them then I wouldn’t be on these big cards.

“This will be my third six-rounder so I’m looking at maybe one more. I’ll be looking at a Scottish title after that - that’s the level I want to be at soon.

“I’ll definitely be looking for title fights from then on. I want that target to work towards.

“I need to thank instyle kitchen and bathrooms - their help is massive towards me fighting for big titles.”

McAulay’s March bout is set to be streamed live on IFL TV’s YouTube channel in association with MTK Global.
