ST Mirren boss Oran Kearney has reiteratred his belief that his side still have plenty to play for.

The Buddies are rock bottom of the Premiership and haven't won since beating Championship Alloa in the Scottish Cup in January.

And ahead of another difficult trip to take on Hearts this weekend, Kearney says the added quality gives him hope of nicking a result.

He said: "There’s so much still to play for.

"I’d a fair idea coming in to this job that we’d proably pick up most of our points towards the end of the season because of the changes that needed to be made.

"Livingston gathered most of their points at the start of the season, Motherwell have hit a run in January, what we crave is that we can get a magic month and hit it.

"Whether that’s March or April it doesn’t matter, we have to have a run of games where we have a big collection of points. It’s just making sure we’re still in the mix to do that."

Ahead of the trip, Kearney confirmed the Buddies have received a welcome boost with Anders Dreyer to return to the squad.

Meanwhile, the gaffer defended his selection and set up in 2-2 draw with Aberdeen on Saturday - even although his side twice threw away the lead.

He said: “The set up is one thing and it is important to do that to try and give yourself a chance.

"It’s no different to what we’ve done all season in relation to how we approach away games.

"I think the difference now is we have a bit more quality about the squad in relation to personnel which give us an opportunity like Saturday when we spring an attack or have a bit of space that you have players who can go and do a bit damage."
