Glasgow Clan have confirmed that Pete Russell will return as Head Coach & Director of Hockey for the 2019/20 season.

The 44-year-old Scot returns for a second season having joined from the Milton Keynes Lightning last summer.

During his first season with Glasgow, Russell led the Clan to a fourth place finish in the EIHL, a Challenge Cup semi-final appearance and the Gardiner Conference title.

Since 2015, Russell has also been head coach of the Great Britain National Team, winning back to back Gold Medals and promotion to the top level of the IIHF World Championships for the first time since 1994.

Pete Russell commented: “I’m very privileged and honoured to be here again next season as head coach and I’ll give my all to continue to make the Purple Army proud of their club.

“It was my number one priority to retain him, as following the season we’ve had there have been a lot of suitors in the UK and in Europe.

“Work is already well underway for the 2019/20 season and Pete has already started the process of retaining a core of this season’s team and recruiting his main targets.”
