THORN ATHLETIC moved within touching distance of the Caledonian Premier League title after a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Milton.
Victory over reigning champions Dumbarton Academy tonight will see them clinch the top flight championship for the very first time.
It would also see the Johnstone side seal a fantastic double after lifting the William Turner Challenge Cup a fortnight ago after a 1-0 victory against Dalziel at Broadwood Stadium.
The hero of that victory - Tom Smith - was on the scoresheet again as Thorn saw off relegation battlers Milton at Garnock Campus.

Midfielder Dylan Blair had opened the scoring from the penalty spot after just 11 minutes but the lead lasted barely a minute when Milton equalised after catching the Thorn rearguard napping.
Smith put them back in front on the half hour mark to give them a deserved lead at the break.
The next goal was always going to be vital and thankfully former Clydebank and Neilston defender Martin McInnes powered home a third.
And with goal difference vital, Shaun Kelly rifled home a fourth to put boss Johnny McEwan’s side on easy street.
Afterwards the gaffer said: “We are happy with that performance against a team fighting for their lives.
“I must give credit to the lads over the past month. The boys have pulled together and trained hard. Now we have three games left and we will be aiming for three wins.
“It’s in our hands so we will give it everything we’ve got.”
Thorn v Dumbarton Academy kicks-off at the McMaster Sports Centre at 7pm tonight.
