Magennis, who has skippered Saints in both Premiership games so far this season as regular club captain Stephen McGinn has been sidelined due to injury issues, has been in fine form and set up Ilkay Durmus’ goal in last Sunday’s Aberdeen victory.

While McAllister, who ended an injury ravaged two-and-a-half-year spell at Derby by agreeing a permanent return to Paisley, came on as a second-half sub last weekend as Jim Goodwin got his first three points as a Premiership manager over the Dons.
And the youngster’s impressive form, including while on loan at the Buddies as he helped the club retain their top flight status in the second half of last season, with three goals in 18 appearances in all competitions, was enough to earn a call-up on Monday afternoon.

Both midfielders, who came through the club’s well-established academy, which has seen the likes of John McGinn and Kenny McLean progress into the senior national team set up, could earn their second cap on familiar turf with Scotland’s opening qualifier against San Marino taking place at the Simple Digital Arena against San Marino on September 5 before they travel to Croatia five days later.
