Celtic have been linked with a loan move for Spurs left wing-back Ryan Sessegnon, although the Parkhead club would face stern competition for the 20-year-old.

Southampton, Brighton and newly promoted Leeds United have all been linked with a move for the England under-21 internationalist who is yet to feature for Spurs so far this season.

The London club paid £25m for the player last summer to secure his signature from Fulham on a five year deal but he has made only a dozen appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side, one of which was against Bayern Munich last year when he became the youngest Spurs player to score in the Champions League.

However, the arrival this summer of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon have pushed Sessegnon further down the pecking order with a loan move away before the closure of the window anticipated this week.

A move to Leeds could facilitate Barry Douglas potentially moving north to Celtic as the 30-year-old struggles for game time at Elland Road.
