Renfrew boss Jimmy Quigley has urged his experienced players to take younger members of the squad under their wing this season.

The New Western Park men are preparing for life in the First Division after earning promotion by winning the Second Division.

And Quigley believes having some seasoned campaigners on the books will be important.

He said: “Keeping the core of the squad is key for us because they’ve been on this journey together and we’ve got the club back to where I think we should be, in terms of the division.

“Boys are just coming into their prime and we’ve got a good core of youngsters who are under 24.

“There’s a good blend and balance moving forward and the experienced ones will need to take on the mantle and show the younger ones the ropes but I’ve got no fears about that.”

Renfrew return to action this Saturday for their first friendly ahead of the 2023/24 campaign as they take on Benburb, who gained promotion from the First Division last season.

Kick-off at New Tinto Park is at 10.30am.
