Johnstone Burgh produced a five-star performance as they returned to league action for the first time in months with a dominant win over Whitletts Victoria on Saturday.

Cup ties and postponed fixtures had resulted in the Keanie Park players having to put their First Division campaign on hold since a draw at Ashfield at the end of September.

Jamie McKim’s team showed no signs of rustiness, however, with goals from Ryan Wallace, Dale Simeon, Blair Rossiter and Stuart McCann putting the hosts firmly in the driver’s seat at the interval.

The visitors pulled a goal back in the early stages of the second half but the four-goal margin was restored just before the hour mark as Ally Small completed a 5-1 victory.

Burgh currently occupy ninth spot in the First Division but have as many as five games in hand over teams at the top.

McKim’s side now have a busy festive period, with three games in 10 days as they travel to Kilwinning Rangers on Wednesday night before facing St Roch’s on Saturday and then heading to Shotts Bon Accord on December 30.

Kick-off at Buffs Park on Wednesday is at 7.45pm, while Saturday’s match will take place at New Western Park and get underway at 1.30pm.
