Shaun Rooney has left St Mirren.
The defender, 28, has departed the Paisley outfit by 'mutual consent', the club has this morning confirmed.
A short club statement reads: "St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Shaun Rooney has left the club by mutual consent.
"The club will make no further comment."
The St Johnstone double-cup winning hero of the 2020/21 season had been suspended by the club for the past three weeks on a 'precautionary basis'.
That followed Rooney being charged with assaulting a woman as well as a breach of the peace against a man in a Glasgow city centre takeaway last month.
A Police Scotland statement about the matter reads: "A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an assault on an 18-year-old woman and a breach of the peace against an 18-year-old man in takeaway premises on Queen Street, Glasgow, in the early hours of Thursday, September 19, 2024.
"He was released on an undertaking to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
