An ice hockey club based in Renfrew has celebrated the end of its 2024/2025 season with a special awards ceremony.

The Paisley Pirates held the event at Renfrew's David Lloyd Club, bringing together players, volunteers, staff, sponsors, and supporters.

Head coach Ian Turley kicked off the evening with a speech, praising the players' efforts, the volunteers' contributions, and the support from the coaching and managerial staff.

The night began by recognising the club's volunteers, who received tokens of appreciation for their behind-the-scenes efforts.

Special thanks were extended to the managerial and coaching staff, including Ian Turley Sr., Rab Henderson, and Jason Barr, for their commitment to the team's development.

The players were individually recognised and presented their Own and Loan jerseys to their sponsors, highlighting the close relationship between the players and their supporters.

Jim Liddle Player of the Year (voted by fans): Captain Chris Turley

Most Improved Player (selected by coaches): Jay Herd

Outstanding Effort and Attitude (selected by coaches): Chris Turley

Difference Maker Award (selected by coaches): Chris Wilson

MVP Award (selected by coaches): Daniel McGowan

A special award was also given to the club’s match-day mascots for their enthusiasm, pride, and spirit.

The club extended thanks to its 2024/25 sponsors, including The Falke Family, Renfrewshire Council, Cyclelane, Custom Sports Stitch, Al Goold Photography, Abbey Services, Hillington Tyre Services, Studio 13, Cold Blooded Sports, and the Paisley Pirates Supporters Club.

The Paisley Pirates also expressed gratitude to the U19 Lightning Pirates, who they said "represent the future of the club."

"The Paisley Pirates look forward to returning for the 2025/26 season, stronger and hungrier than ever.

"Everyone who wears the badge, supports from the stands, or works behind the scenes should feel enormous pride.

"We move forward into the next season with a heart full of passion and pride, ready to continue building something truly special here at Paisley Pirates."
