IT has been revealed that the Paisley (PA) postcode is officially the luckiest in Scotland.

The National Lottery can confirm that the area is home to the most big money lottery winners (£50,000 and above) per head of population in Scotland over the past two years.

Overall it ranks second in the whole of the UK.

In total 30 top tier prizes of at least £50,000 have been banked by players in the PA postcode, which includes towns in Renfrewshire, including the creation of four Lottery millionaires.

This makes PA one of the luckiest of the UK’s 121 postcode areas.

182 major prizes of £50,000 or more have been won in the area and 20 millionaires created since The National Lottery began.

A NATIONAL Lottery spokesperson said: "Residents of the Paisley postcode have been enjoying plenty of National Lottery luck recently, so much so they are one of the luckiest in the UK.

"With plenty of big money wins and four millionaires created over the last two years, they have lots to celebrate.

"There are now a massive 4,250 National Lottery millionaires across the country and with more than 6 new millionaires made every week there is likely to be another local winner made soon."

It isn’t just individuals winning big, the entire community benefits from the money raised by The National Lottery. In 2015 2,192 grants worth £138,949,888 were distributed to National Lottery funded projects across Scotland.

Local causes include funds for the 18th Paisley Scouts Group to purchase lifejackets, a trailer, a sailing dinghy and training.

Each National Lottery player helps to raise over £34m every week for Good Causes.

This helps fund athletes competing at Rio, the nation’s arts and heritage, and many thousands of projects in local communities across the UK.
