TALENTED artists and crafters turned out in force to support the Bridge of Weir Community Councils Arts and Crafts Fair.

There were dozens of stalls at the fair selling everything from cakes and candy to handmade pillows and jewellery.

The fair, organised by the community council, was set up to raise cash for upcoming projects in the area.

Over £250 of essential funds were collected at the Bridge of Weir British Legion on Saturday, September 17.

Some future projects include the switching on of the Christmas lights, the rejuvenation of old Lade walk and putting up exercise equipment in parks around the area.

Natalie Don, a member of the community council and one of the organisers, said: "It was a great day for the community and we would like to thank everyone who helped to make it happen.

"With a high turnout, a big thanks goes to all members of the public who came along to support this event.

"We would also like to thank the range of talented stallholders who took part, all with some very interesting and unique items to browse."

There were also prizes given away in a raffle with the big winner being Elizabeth Morrison, who took away a lovely hamper.

Following the success of this event, the community council hopes to put on more like it in the future to help not only raise funds but bring the community together as well.

The community council is always looking to engage with people.

Natalie said: "It is important to look after our community and the Bridge of Weir Community Council is always looking for ways we can support the strong community we have here in Bridge of Weir."
