TWO cars were involved in a serious crash at Thomas Shanks Park in Johnstone this afternoon.

The smash took place at Quarrelton Road in front of the gates to the park on Thursday, October 13 at 2.13pm.

An eyewitness reported that one car has been upturned as a result of the collision.

Fire services, police and ambulances are currently in attendance.

A police spokeswoman said: "There was a crash in front of Shanks Park in Johnstone.

"The fire services are in attendance and there are diversions in place.

"One man is out of the car and the other appears to be injured.

"No one is trapped and no one appears to be seriously injured however we have still to confirm this."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesman added: "Shortly after 2.10pm this afternoon we received a call reporting a car on its side on Quarrelton Road.

"Two fire engines were immediately sent from Johnstone and our crews reached the scene four minutes later.

"No one remained inside the vehicles and firefighters made sure that they were safe.

"With the arrival of paramedics one man received a precautionary check up and our crews left the scene around 2.35pm."
