HOWWOOD Primary pupils released their inner Julius Caesar at their ancient Rome open event.

The P5 pupils are studying the Romans and as part of this topic they have been finding out about the Celtic Queen Boudicca who led a rebellion against the Romans in Britain.

The history buffs invited their parents and grandparents to return to the school for the afternoon in order to show them what they have learned.

After learning about different perspective on the rebellion, the youngsters used what they had learned to put on a short play for their family.

Visitors loved seeing the play and viewing the other work the children have been doing in class.

The little ones were also kitted out in fabulous ancient Rome costumes provided by class teacher, Iain MacFarlane's wife.

Iain said: "The pupils have been very motivated by their Romans topic and they worked so hard to learn their lines for the play."

The school’s acting head teacher, Mr Shields, added: "The children love sharing their learning with their parents and grandparents.

"These events are an important part of our partnership with home and it is wonderful that they are so well supported; it is a great encouragement to the children."

Howwood's P4 pupils are also currently planning an open event for their Charlie and The Chocolate Factory topic with a date to be confirmed.

The entire school is also preparing for the Christmas show which will take place between December 6 and 8.
