SANTA spread some seasonal joy when he popped into Auchenlodment Primary to support the school’s Christmas fair.

The jolly big chap in the red outfit had plenty of visitors at his festive grotto, where gifts were handed out to boys and girls who have been good all year.

There were also elves to be found, adding to the Christmas magic.

And bargain-hunters were happy to browse through a host of stalls selling a variety of seasonal goodies, including sweet treats such as tablet.

Other items on sale included ornaments that had been made by pupils at the school, in Aspen Place, Johnstone.

Around £500 was raised by the talented pupils, which will be used to pay for classroom trips next year.

A number of stalls were also manned by members of the Parent Council, raising a further £2,500 that will be used to support the school.

Other attractions at the fair included a raffle, with a host of prizes up for grabs.

And visitors were even able to have their photograph taken with lifesize cardboard cut-outs of stars such as television presenters Ant and Dec and Take That singer Gary Barlow.

Gerry Carlton, headteacher at Auchenlodment Primary, said the festive fare was a huge success.

He added: “It was a wonderful day which was enjoyed by everyone who came along.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for helping to make sure everything went so well. The children had been working hard over the past few weeks to make such wonderful seasonal items for the event.

“Thanks also go to the Parent Council, who did so much work behind the scenes. Their amazing efforts raised a huge amount of money.”
