POLICE have launched an investigation after a man was threatened at knifepoint in Paisley.

The 57-year-old was approached by another man on a footpath in Ferguslie on Saturday, January 14 at 7.55am.

He threatened his victim with the weapon and demanded he hand over his money and possessions.

The victim refused and the suspect ran off in the direction of Abbey Nursey and Millarston Park.

The man is described as around 6ft tall, of slim build, and wearing dark blue clothing, including a Nike hoodie.

He was also wearing a blue beanie hat with white stripes at the bottom which was pulled down over his face with home-made cuts at the eyes.

He spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Aileen Cunningham from Paisley CID said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was in the Ferguslie area this morning and saw anyone acting suspiciously.

“In particular, I would like to trace the male driver of an old silver style polo which was seen driving in the area heading towards Paisley around the time of the incident. We believe the driver may have witnessed what happened so I would ask him to get in touch.
