CHILDREN at Bargarran Primary had lots to celebrate as they enjoyed a prizegiving day.
Pupils at the Erskine school were rewarded for their efforts in everything from sport to entrepreneurship.
Among those who were in the spotlight were members of the Bargarran Primary Fairtrade group.
They have raised hundreds of pounds for the Fairtrade movement, which aims to make sure producers in developing countries receive a fair price for their goods, by staging a series of money-spinning initiatives, including a drop-in cafe for parents.
A spokeswoman for Bargarran Primary said: “This money will be donated to Rainbow Turtle, in Paisley, which provided Fairtrade workshops for the school last year.
“The group will continue to promote Fairtrade by having a snack day and another Fairtrade cafe at the school’s parents evening.”
Also rewarded were pupils and staff who achieved the Level 1 Rights Respecting School Award.
The Rev Jonathan Fleming, of Erskine Parish Church, joined with parents to support the pupils through creative workshops, assemblies and homework challenges that focused on respecting the rights of others.
Also celebrating were players from the school’s football team, who were presented with new strips, courtesy of the Parent Council.
The spokeswoman added: “The team has enjoyed a successful season, including qualifying from the local round of the Scottish Schools National Seven-a-Side competition. The new strips will allow their appearance to match their play.”
