A DARING Howwood man spent a weekend hanging around in 2003.

Just days after world-famous magician David Blane emerged from his transparent box in London, having spent more than a month suspended above the River Thames, Bobby Brown decided to imitate his hero.

Bobby spent a very long weekend hanging above his favourite pub, the Howwood Inn.

While his fellow regulars enjoyed a drink inside, he gave up his favourite tipple of Guinness for 44 hours to raise money for Yorkhill Hospital.

As he prepared to get into his box for the challenge, the dad-of-two said: “The hardest thing will be going 44 hours without a Guinness, as I think the last time that happened I was underage.

“The main thing I’ve picked up from David Blaine is to just lie down and enjoy it.”

Bobby won plenty of support from puzzled pubgoers, as well as from his wife Ahrlene and their children Callum and Kerry.

He was also praised by Kate and Corinne Hutton, owners of the Howwood Inn.
