NINE tiny ducklings and their mother were rescued by the Scottish SPCA after falling down a drain in Johnstone.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Easter Sunday after a vigilant member of the public spotted the ducklings trapped in a storm drain whilst on a walk with his daughter.
Inspector Gatherer said: “Luckily the little ducklings were spotted early enough so we could rescue them.
“John O’Brien, the man who found them, was a great help. We worked as a team to catch them with a net.
“The water was flowing in such a way that without his help I wouldn’t have been able to save them.
“We were able to release the lucky ducklings and mother back into the water which made for a lovely Easter.”
Anyone who discovers an injured or distressed wild animal should call the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
